Home Sweet Home

Wow, buy this kit home and you can enjoy a summer's evening among the faeries and sprites, SOLD!

I love looking at old photos and advertisements for houses and household products, especially around the 40s and 50s. There is a great blog called Retro Renovation, I always love to browse their pages and pages of retro houses and adverts. Instead of buying an old house and ripping out everything that gave it style 50 years ago, retro renovation shows you great photos of houses updated but not completely stripped of their old charm and beauty. They have a "Save the Pink Bathroom" campaign, which I love!
Anyway if you're like me and love looking at houses and suburbs from the turn of the century through to the 1950s have a little looky at Clarke Historial Library. It has a wonderful index of old Aladdin Home sales catalogues, apparently a well know kit home manufacturer in the U.S. I love looking at the covers and the amazing illustrations of how houses developed through the years.

Wall Art at Blik.

I would really love some wall art..I have a back room that needs redecorating. A big picture on one wall would be something different! What do you think? Is it for you? If so, I'd love to know what you would have on your wall. Have a look at Blik
I quite like this thwarted cat

Plastic fantastic!

I found this wonderful craft book at the local second hand shop "Plastic the wonder handcraft" I just had to buy it.
How nice would crochet plastic earrings and a lovely spray of plastic flowers on a brooch back be? not very, me thinks!
But am I dismissing this too soon? I tend to think melting and crafting plastic would be the least likeable craft activity, just think of those fumes! and I'm yet to see a good picture of plastic craft, so maybe I'll reserve judgement
Anyway it's all fun and the lady on the front cover looks pretty impressed with her plasticy bouquet! I'm guessing this booklet is from the 1950s? There is no date, and the lady on the front is the only real clue!

Some people are so clever!

I really love this stop motion trailer. It was made by the author and artist Maggie Stiefvater for her book Shiver, out in August. The book is apparently about a girl who is in love with a boy who becomes a wolf each winter. The illustrations look gorgeous!

This really makes me want to write!!

Book labels

I really love the little "This book belongs to" book plates and illustrations inside books. Some of the loveliest pictures in books seem to be placed around a book plate or on a label! So I went looking...looking...looking and found Oiseaux
I think I'll buy some, they are gorgeous!

Florence and the Machine

Im really loving this young female singer! So many good female singers coming up through the ranks. (Hope triple J take note! imagine having a top 100 songs list without any female singers/bands!)
